Popular Tamil actress Vidyullekha Raman, who had been on a vacation with her friends to Vienna in Austria, has been stranded after her passport, cash and other documents were stolen by a duo at the lobby of a posh hotel, where she was supposed to check in late last night.
Her father Mohanram, an actor and film historian, in Chennai, expressed shock and is hopeful that the Indian government would rush to her rescue.
Vidyullekha has sought the help of Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. She took to twitter and posted: ‘@SushmaSwaraj My bag has been stolen with passport, cards & currency in my hotel lobby. Need to contact the Indian embassy asap in Vienna.’
In another post in her Twitter account, she wrote, ‘Devastating to have had a fab trip with friends and it ends on a sour note with all money, passport and valuables lost. Fate I guess’.
Vidhyullekha had acted in comical roles in several films including Neethanae En Ponvasantham, Veeram, Puli, Mapla Singam among others. Her recent Telugu release Sarainodu won her appreciation.
Mohanram, said, ‘My daughter was at Inter-Continental Hotel in Vienna. She was distracted by a man who asked for an address. Before she could say that she was a tourist, another man took away her bag and left the place in a hurry’.
